NASHVILLE, Tenn., Dec. 6, 2018—The inaugural visit to the West Coast by Keith and Kristyn Getty’s “Sing! An Irish Christmas” tour has sold out each of its four concert stops. The packed auditoriums reverberated with the sounds of Christmas as the Gettys encouraged the audiences to share the good news of Christ’s birth through carol singing.

In this same year when Keith Getty was pinned by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth as an Officer of the Order of the British Empire for his contribution to "music and modern hymn writing" (the first time the award had been given to an individual involved in the world of contemporary church music), 2018 also marks the first occasion of the Getty’s Christmas tour visiting the West Coast where Keith and Kristyn are reintroducing some of the greatest hymns of the Christian faith--Christmas carols. With its unique combination of Christian thought creatively expressed in hymns and carols, along with artistic virtuosity and passionate congregational singing with the audience, the tour continues on to include such well-known venues as New York’s Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. The tour wraps up with special guest Alison Krauss in Nashville later this month.

The sold-out tour stops included concerts in Kingsburg (Fresno) and El Cajon (San Diego) as well as at Segerstrom Hall in Costa Mesa, CA (with an eclectic roster of featured guests including Joni Eareckson Tada, Ricky Skaggs, Matt Redman and Pedro Eustache) and the Ikeda Theater in Meza, AZ (with special guests Ricky Skaggs and Paul David Tripp).

“We believe that there is no more imperative time for believers to gather together in song than at the Christmas season," says Keith Getty. "For many, this season represents celebration and joy, yet for others it can be a painful reminder of those we've lost. In any instance, we are all strengthened when we declare our faith through singing, and the great Christmas carols are some of the best expressions we have of the truths we believe."

Keith and Kristyn Getty occupy a unique space in the world of music today as preeminent modern hymn writers. In re-inventing the traditional hymn form, they are creating and cultivating a catalogue of songs teaching Christian doctrine and crossing the genres of traditional, classical, folk and contemporary composition which are sung the world over. Keith and Kristyn Getty are the organizers of the annual Getty Music Worship Conference Sing! and the authors of “Sing! How Worship Transforms Your Life, Family, and Church,” published in 2017 by B&H Publishing Group.

The Getty’s Christmas concert tour has grown to be one of the largest annual Christmas concert tours in the nation and has been broadcast on US public television to more than 45 million households across the country and by the BBC in the United Kingdom. They are joined on stage by their award-winning band of instrumentalists - fusing Celtic, bluegrass, Americana, modern and classical music as well as cultural dance and the choral sounds of the holiday.
