Keith and Kristyn Getty to Commemorate 200th Anniversary of Sacred Christmas Hymn ‘Silent Night’ at Carnegie Hall with Historic Performance

NASHVILLE, Tenn., Dec. 10, 2018—In this year of the 200th anniversary of the sacred and beloved Christmas hymn, “Silent Night,” Keith and Kristyn Getty along with guest guitar virtuoso Phil Keaggy, will perform a special, never-before-heard arrangement of the hymn at Carnegie Hall in New York City, Dec. 13 at 7:30 p.m. as a part of their 7th annual Christmas tour,  “Sing! An Irish Christmas.”

The Gettys, modern hymn-writers widely known for songs such as “In Christ Alone,” are bringing their Christmas tour to cities across America this holiday season to reinvigorate Christmas carol singing and engage in public conversation about the importance of upholding the rich heritage of these great hymns of the Christian faith. Earlier this year, Keith Getty was pinned by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth as an Officer of the Order of the British Empire for his contribution to "music and modern hymn writing,” the first time the award had been given to an individual involved in the world of contemporary church music.

In addition to Keaggy, the Gettys will also be joined at Carnegie Hall by the following guests:

The Sing! An Irish Christmas concert tour, which enjoyed a sell-out run in its opening on the West Coast earlier this month, has grown to be one of the largest annual Christmas concert tours in the nation and has been broadcasted on public television to over 45 million households across the country. The Getty’s unique combination of Christian thought creatively expressed in hymns and carols, along with artistic virtuosity and passionate congregational singing with the audience is augmented by an award winning band of instrumentalists - fusing Celtic, bluegrass, Americana, modern and classical music as well as cultural dance and the choral sounds of the holiday.
