Singing is for the whole family!
For all of us who take care of children, teaching songs that are rich in the truth and beauty of the Lord is a wonderful gift to help them unwrap.
In our family we try to teach our children a hymn a month; hymns old and new that have lyrics and melodies they can hold onto throughout their lives.
Here are a few pointers to get started:
Play and sing yourself the songs you wish them to know in the places where life happens - over breakfast, car journeys, before bedtime.
To practice a melody, sing it along to the vocal sound ‘gu gu gu’! It will be fun and get the voice warmed up and tune locked in.
We take a little piece of a song lyric at a time and as our kids are still quite young, maybe going after one or two of the verses over the month
Use the lyrics as a springboard to good conversations about the Lord, the Gospel, His Word
Sing without music or simply along with your phone. We have found just before bedtime has worked the best!
