Sing the triumphs of His grace
Why are Christians a singing people? One central reason is this: Jesus Christ is alive.
Because Christ is risen, we sing for joy. Death is conquered. Sin is vanquished. Guilt is forgiven. Our future is sure. These truths fill us with a gladness that endures amidst the challenges of this world. Our joy cannot be taken from us.
Because Christ is risen, we sing to remind ourselves of the gospel. Paul passed on the message of Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection as “of first importance” (1 Cor 15:3). In our songs, we tell this good news to the next generation while helping our own hearts remember how it transforms our lives.
Ever since we began writing hymns in 2001, beginning with “In Christ Alone,” we have made it a point to publish a hymn each year that reflects on the resurrection of Christ. It is our prayer that these hymns will serve your people well as you celebrate the central event in all of history.
