25 Days of Prayer - Christmas 2018

Dear Friends,

We are writing to you to thank you for your support of Getty Music and in particular to ask for your prayers as we now begin our Christmas tour for these 25 days. We are always encouraged when people ask how they can pray for us in the unique opportunity Christmas brings to share the good news of the gospel through carol singing.

CS Lewis, in his essay The Grand Miracle, writes of the wonder of the incarnation - Christ comes “down to the very roots and seabed of the nature He has created. But He goes down to come up again and bring the whole ruined world up with Him.” These are the tidings of comfort and joy that we sing.

To guide your prayers, here are four key things very much filling our minds and hearts:

    1)   Prayer and faithful lives: Pray for faithful living from our team as we pray, work and interact with others and each other throughout these pressured last few weeks - for players, engineers, administrators, promoters, local churches, choir members, volunteers and families who sacrifice time to put it together.

    2)   Creativity and joy: Pray for extraordinary and continued creativity as we rehearse, innovate and work with the exceptional guest artists lined up. We believe this is the most creative band and roster of guest artists we have ever had. May this energy flow into joy, excitement and a spirit of generosity and encouragement everywhere.

    3)   Impact and changed lives, families & churches: Pray for the performances and all the interaction with the nearly 40,000 people who will be present at events - from the youngest children to the vulnerable oldest, from the leaders of society to the hurting, from those who want space to worship, to those who are yet to believe or struggle to believe. May Christ appear to many and His Spirit change lives. Pray also for those who may experience the music on livestreams, radio, blogs or interviews in association with the tour (so much of the impact over the years has been from articles, national radio or Public television)

    4)   Future vision of Sing! and Getty Music: Pray for great momentum towards the Sing! conference next year, and also the national tours and creative ideas that emerge from those. Thanks also to CHM (Christian Healthcare Ministries) for their partnership in helping to make these tours happen. We are living in an historic time for church music and have a chance to be part of a global movement that could have incalculable impact.

Below is a full list of cities the tour will be stopping at this Christmas for your reference. If you live close by, please join us there if you can!

Thank you for your prayers.

Warmly,
Keith and Kristyn
