JOY– AN IRISH CHRISTMAS COMES TO PUBLIC TELEVISION

The Festive Broadcast Includes a Mix Of Carols, Original and Favorite Hymns, and Irish Folk Music and Complements the Getty’s Upcoming Annual Christmas Tour

Since 2010, two of America and Ireland’s most beloved Christmas concert performers and recording artists, Keith and Kristyn Getty, have traveled North America with their festive blend of traditional carols, original and modern hymns, Irish folk music, bluegrass and spectacular Irish step dancing. Now fans and viewers can celebrate the holidays with the Getty’s at home, with their first-ever public television special, Joy–An Irish Christmas, to air on public television stations around the country starting this month.

Named after their “Joy–-An Irish Christmas” tour, this full concert special evokes the wonder and beauty of Christmas in the Getty's signature style of Celtic, bluegrass, Americana and classical music. Taped last year in the historic Tennessee Theatre, this heartwarming special showcases the couple's acclaimed ensemble of virtuoso Irish and American folk musicians, including Fionan de Barra of Broadway's Riverdance, noted concert violinist Deborah Klemme, and Uilleann piper Patrick D'Arcy, among others.

The 60 minute Joy-An Irish Christmas TV special includes holiday favorites such as “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen” and “Deck the Halls,” along with new and original hymns such as “O Children Come” and the original Getty hymn sung all over the world, “In Christ Alone.”  Detroit Public Television is the presenting station of this special.

An extended version of the special is also available on DVD and CD at retailers and online outlets, including a special MFiT version for iTunes.   The special and recordings complement the Getty’s 2015 “Joy – An Irish Christmas” tour.
